What do our volunteers do?

Our volunteers are involved in all aspects of our organisation including Member Services, Outreach, Marketing, HR, Debt Collection, Finance as well as many special projects.  We aim to give all of our volunteers meaningful assignments and use thier skills and expertise to the best of our ability.

What are the benefits?

There are many benefits to volunteering here with us at Citysave including:

  • Training and Development
  • Building CV
  • References

Do I need qualifications?

No, our volunteers do not necessarily need to have specific qualifications as full training will be provided.  However, we do have a variety of special projects aimed at volunteers with specific skills and experience.

Will I get training?

Yes! All of our volunteers are assigned a mentor who will supervise them on a day-to-day basis and offer on-the-job-training.  On your first day you will be given an induction ensuring that you have all of the information necessary to start your placement.  We also offer our volunteers accredited training from external learning providers including Finance, Lending, HR, Marketing and many more.

 Will I be paid expenses?

Yes! All of our volunteers will be paid 'out-of-pocket' expenses, these include:

  • Travel to and from Citysave
  • Lunches

Will I get a reference?

Yes! We provide all of our volunteers with references for future employment.

Step into Employment

 

We are currently launching our 'Step Into Employment' scheme to give people who have been unemployed for a long period of time the training and development they need to help them find a job.

 Who can join the scheme?

  • Anyone who lives in Birmingham
  • Has been unemployed for over 3 months
  • Claiming a benefit

Why join our scheme?

  • You will be offered training to build your CV - making you more attractive to a potential employer!
  • Priority will be given to those on our scheme for work placements within Citysave.
  • Help will be given with writing CV and interview technique.
  • References will be given.

FREE TRAINING FOR VOLUNTEERS!

Last month we arranged a free training day for all of our volunteers which took place on the 11th May 2010.  The day was a huge success and we would like to say a huge thank you to all of those who took part!  There was a huge response from the training flyer that was sent out and due to the high demand we are planning many more of these events over the next 12 months.

The training day includes the following areas:

  • Credit Unions
  • Customer Service
  • Health and Safety
  • Handling Complaints
  • Anti-Money Laundering
  • Data Protection/Confidentiality

STEP 3: Interview

If your application has been successful we will contact you to arrange an interview.  Please note that we receive a large number of applications and cannot always respond to them all.

 

STEP 4: Induction

If your are successful at the interview stage we will invite you to an induction day.  The induction day will ensure you are given all of the information you will need to start volunteering with us and also give you a chance to meet our team.
